The Durban Country Club clubhouse is an impressive, stately, white gabled building in Cape Dutch style constructed in 1924 by architects Wallace Paton and WG (Billy) Moffat. The clubhouse is surrounded by meticulously groomed lawns, a sparkling swimming pool, club amenities and a magnificent world renowned golf course. The Club has become a landmark along Durban’s ‘golden mile’ beachfront and is a valuable role player in the desirable Sporting Precinct.
Situated within a short drive from the Durban city centre, the Club provides a welcome retreat for members from the city life – easily accessible for local residents and holidaymakers who enjoy the excellent facilities and leisure pursuits offered at the Club. The clubhouse is also a popular venue for conferences, functions and events.
The Club offers a number of excellent restaurants both fine and casual dining accompanied by a superb wine list, an intimate cocktail bar, a traditional bar and a sparkling pool with poolside bar, especially popular in the warmer months, and a very popular KidZone.
On entering the Clubhouse, the luxuriance and richness of the traditional features offers a feeling of worth and tradition. Steeped in history, the clubhouse acts as a showcase for the many memorable events held over the past century featuring honours boards, framed photographs, memorabilia, trophies and gifts, to name but a few, eloquently displayed, which exudes the camaraderie and fellowship of the members.
The clubhouse is open daily from 06h00 and closes at midnight except for Sunday when it closes at 18h00 and Monday when it closes at 20h00 exception when we have Functions. It also serves as the heart of the management, administration and service teams who work together as one to ensure the smooth running of the Club for all its members.
