RUN THE COURSE

at Durban Country Club

RUN INFO.

This is a timed trail run or walk around our scenic golf course. The options are a 4km (run and walk) or 8km (runners only). There will not be any water tables on the route, but you may bring your own water or energy drink. A complimentary DCC bottled water and a refreshment, of your choice, will be provided at the finish.

The run will be COVID-19 compliant. On race day you will be required to complete COVID 19 screening via an app, for your race entry to be valid.

As per health and COVID-19 regulations, temperature screening is also a compulsory requirement/compliance of entry as well as hand sanitising, masks or buffs and social distancing.

This is a pre-entry run. There will be no changes or substitutes or late entries allowed as this impacts COVID-19 compliances.

Race times will be sent via an sms at the end of the run.

The following instructions are very important, and we request everyone to read and strictly adhere to these due to the COVID-19 regulations. In addition, these events are being used to help as pilots for holding one of the first bigger public events when we receive the official regulations from the Government.

COVID-19 Screening on the day: NO SCREEN, NO RUN (determined by the Government and covid compliance)

  • On Monday 30 November around 08h00 you will receive an SMS to complete COVID-19 screening on the Finish Time Passport App. This App is free and needs to be downloaded from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

    • You set up your profile, select event, complete health questions and info. Scan QR code at registration – easy peasy.

    • If this has not been completed your entry will not have been validated on the start system. NOTE: this process is separate and required over any use of the Health Docs system run by DCC.

    • If you have any queries or would like more info on the app, please go to www.FinishTime.co.za.

    • If you need help with the above, please arrive at 16h00 and we will help you at registration.

Entry & Parking Area:

  • Please plan your arrival for registration that opens at 16h00. This will ensure you are in time for the 17h00 start.

  • If you are a guest, please have your driver’s license ready for entry at the gate to the club.

  • The security will check your temperature at the gate. Anyone with a temperature over 38 degrees will be turned away.

  • Please park in the lower car park and come through the side entrance of the Sportsman Verandah to registration.

  • Please ensure you are wearing masks at all times except when running.

Registration:

  • This is situated inside the Sportsman Verandah. Please sanitise your hands on entry and give your temp reading from the gate.

  • Provided you have completed the COVID-19 screen on your app. scan your QR code to pick up a bib chip. This should be immediately pinned (with a minimum of 2 pins) to your outer running vest at chest height. Please ensure the chip is horizontal.

  • Due to phones being used for the above process, you can either have enough time to take them back to your cars; can hand them in at registration for safe keeping (at your own risk); or bring a padlock and key to put into the lockers at DCC which are available.

  • It’s important that all registration is completed by 16h45 for a 17h00 start.

Start Process:

  • The start is now located on the bowling green. Race briefing will be at 16h45 and line-up done thereafter.

  • Walkers will commence first with runners in a second set separated by a 2-minute gap. 8km runners will be set off prior to 4km runners.

  • You will line up in your Four-ball, allocated to you by a marshall. For social distancing your group will each be on a white dot on the grass.

  •  The start groups will be staggered at 30 second and 15 second intervals. No more than 4 people will be started at the one time.

  • As the line ahead of you moves forward or has set off, you will be motioned to move forward to the line ahead of you until you set off.

  • Please note that the wearing of masks is compulsory in this area until you have crossed the start line and started your run. Your mask must be replaced as soon as you cross the finish line.

  • Please observe social distancing at all times.

The Course:

  • The 4km lap is a marked run around the perimeter of the Durban Country Club golf course.

  • Marshalls will be in place to guide you along the way and there for your safety.

  • The timing is by Finish Time bib chip, so will automatically start on crossing the mat and finish on the mat.

  • Runners doing the 8 km will have a split time at 4km and a 8km time as they will complete two laps.

  • The course is well marked, and these basic rules ensure you complete the correct lap

    • Run clockwise around the perimeter of the golf course. Keep hugging the bush and trees on the perimeter and run 3 metres from the bush.
    • Keep markers or bunting on the left side of you at all times.
    • When on a path stay on the path until it becomes grass again.
    • NO running on the fairways, greens, T-boxes or bunkers – STAY IN/ON THE ROUGH at all times
    • The km marks are shown by KM boards
    • Be aware of raised bricks on paths and watch footing on grass.
    • Please treat red and white bunting as a fence or wall, do not cross or go over it .
    • Once you have gone through the finish line, please do not go back into this area.

If you are entering as a guest via the link given to you and do not know a member, please fill in “DCC guest” in the required field. COVID 19
The acceptability of participation will be subject to complying with all Covid 19 regulations as detailed above. Any failure to do so may result in being turned away and any failure to meet standards or experiencing any Covid symptoms may require transfer to an isolation area.

INDEMNITY
By entering and participating in this run, you confirm you are medically fit to run/walk and understand that entry is at your own risk and are responsible for any injury/illness during or as a result of the run, or for any property lost, stolen or damaged whilst on DCC property as well as being liable for any medical costs incurred.
