Golf operations would like to thank Peter Matkovich and his team for the great work they have done on the restoration and repair of the two severely damaged bunkers on the 2nd and 3rd holes. The work was done with a minimum of interference to our members and guests. It really is so pleasing to see two of our most Iconic holes restored to their brilliant best.
On behalf of our maintenance team we would like to ask all our members to take special care in entering and exiting both of these bunkers. A lot of hard work has gone into this repair job and it is absolutely crucial that we give the bunkers and surrounds ample time to recover.
We will be continuing with our bush removal program over the next few months with the view to have all the major work completed before the beginning of next summer. Once again Golf operations would like to thank the Wallingtons team for all their hard work in preparing this magnificent golf course for our enjoyment.

Golf Fitness Tip
To date, this is probably the most important mail. As the client it is hugely important to understand the roles of each professional.
Golf fitness specialist - he/she gives you the ability.
Golf teaching pro - he/she gives you the skill.
Case study example:
Joe goes for a lesson where his swing is recorded and analysed on camera. The golf pro informs poor old Joe that he is swaying off the ball on his backswing, leading to inconsistent ball striking. Joe finds it difficult not to sway and results are slow.
Joe is then referred to his local golf fitness specialist via the golf pro. After conducting the assessment, it turns out that Joe has limited hip mobility and thoracic mobility, particularly on the right hand side. This makes it very difficult for the now wide eyed Joe to turn into his backswing effectively, resulting in a sway. The fitness specialist then attacks the areas of priority through a series of mobilizations and stability drills, giving Joe the mobility first and then the stability to be able to control the new range of motion (ability).
After stringently following the specific exercise protocol, Joe returns to the golf pro for another lesson whereby he receives swing drills to develop the skill required to improve his golf.
Joe is now a happy chappy with a comprehensive understanding of his golf game.

Good Morning Xanthos,
Just a few words to thank you and your team for the effort and attention to detail on the special menu you put together for my foreign visitors on Friday 23rd March.
Following a wonderful round of golf the same afternoon we proceeded to the Bistro and were pleasantly surprised by the preparation made in pairing wines with the wonderful 4 course Asian inspired seafood menu we enjoyed.
Presentation - absolutely sublime.
Service - impeccable.
In my opinion the highlight was the last course of fresh baby kingklip served on a bed of Asian fried noodles accompanied by grilled prawns and salt and pepper calamari. A real winner and frankly one you could (dare I say should) add to the Bistro menu as a main course.
The kitchen at the Bistro once again rose to the challenge and excelled.
Our guests thoroughly enjoyed the overall DCC experience on the day and I extend my compliments to the wonderful team managing our golf course. The compliments received on the overall condition of the fairways, greens and service provided by the caddies should make us all feel proud of being members. We are world class !
Keep up the great work.
The Durban City Marathon takes place on Sunday 15th April and the following road closures apply: Masabalala Yengwa (NMR) will be closed entirely from Goble to Battery Beach. Organisers say that the north bound lane will open at 06h30 but this cannot be guaranteed. The M4 will not be affected therefore members are able to access the club via the M4.
