The Board and Chairmanship

Dear Members,

The Board met last week and in terms of its constitution elected Richard Pemberton as chairman. The Board was of the view that the best interests of the club would be served with Richard as the chairman until Beachwood has been sold, the trust paid and the surplus funds ring-fenced in a manner to ensure that they are protected and used in circumstances that best serve the club. There were no other nominations for chairman.

Richard has agreed to continue on the above basis after which the Board will elect a new chairman for the balance of the year.

David McLean will continue to chair the strategic and transformation committee which, as members have been advised, is putting together a new business plan and model for the club going forward. Three of the new Board members already serve on that committee and the fourth, Guy Bigara, will join it. Guy brings with him a wealth of experience in the hospitality industry and in general administrative and financial management.

Kamlesh Ranchhod will take over the financial portfolio from Jebb McIntosh. Carlyle Field, being an attorney, will take over dealing with legal matters from Richard and will furthermore serve on the golf committee. Nick Keary will continue handling the clubs insurance portfolio and marketing matters in conjunction with the CEO.

With regard to the club’s strategic and transformation committee David McLean and the Board would welcome any input members may wish to give and in this regard they should liaise with David.

The Board looks forward to a productive 2017/18 with the support of the members.

Yours sincerely,

Pascale van Maris
On behalf of the Board of Governors
